GREAT LIGHT EDUCATION
Pause & Deferred Enrolment Policy
1. Introduction
This Pause & Deferred Enrolment Policy outlines the conditions under which students may temporarily pause their enrolment or defer their return to Great Light Education ("GLE", "we", "our", or "us").
This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, Refund Policy, Tuition Credit Policy, Attendance Policy, and Withdrawal Policy.
2. Purpose
Great Light Education understands that students may occasionally require a temporary break from their studies due to travel, medical reasons, family commitments, school activities, or other circumstances.
This policy aims to provide a fair and consistent process for managing enrolment pauses while maintaining class availability and continuity for all students.
3. Requesting a Pause or Deferral
Parents or guardians wishing to pause a student's enrolment must submit a Pause / Deferred Enrolment Request Form.
Where possible, requests should be submitted at least 7 days before the intended pause date.
Submission of a request does not automatically guarantee approval.
Great Light Education reserves the right to approve or decline requests based on class availability, enrolment capacity, and operational requirements.
4. Pause Periods
4.1 Short-Term Pause (Up to 4 Weeks)
Students may pause their enrolment for up to 4 weeks.
For approved pauses of up to 4 weeks:
• The student's original class position will be held.
• The student may return to the same class and timetable upon completion of the approved pause period.
• Tuition credits may be issued at the discretion of Great Light Education where applicable.
4.2 Extended Pause (More Than 4 Weeks and Up to 14 Weeks)
Students may request an extended pause of between 4 and 14 weeks.
For approved pauses within this period:
• Great Light Education will endeavour to reserve the student's original class position where possible.
• Due to enrolment fluctuations and class capacity limits, the original class placement cannot be guaranteed.
• Students may be offered an alternative class time or teacher upon return if their original class is no longer available.
• Tuition credits may be issued in accordance with the Tuition Credit Policy.
4.3 Long-Term Pause (More Than 14 Weeks)
Where a student remains paused for more than 14 consecutive weeks:
• The student will be considered withdrawn from the program.
• The student's class position will be released.
• The student may re-enrol at a later date, subject to availability and any applicable placement assessment requirements.
• Previous pricing, discounts, scholarships, or promotional offers may not apply upon re-enrolment.
5. Tuition Fees and Credits
Tuition fees remain payable until a pause request has been approved in writing by Great Light Education.
Where applicable:
• Unused prepaid fees may be converted into tuition credits.
• Tuition credits may be applied to future eligible Great Light Education programs.
• Tuition credits are subject to the Tuition Credit Policy.
• Tuition credits cannot be redeemed for cash except where required under Australian Consumer Law.
6. Return to Classes
Parents are encouraged to notify Great Light Education at least 7 days prior to the student's intended return date.
Upon return:
• Great Light Education will attempt to place the student in their previous class where available.
• Alternative class options may be offered if the original class is full or no longer operating.
• Students may be reassessed if significant time has passed since their last attendance.
7. Exceptional Circumstances
Great Light Education recognises that exceptional circumstances may arise, including:
• Serious illness or injury
• Hospitalisation
• Extended overseas travel
• Family emergencies
• Other significant circumstances
Requests relating to exceptional circumstances will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
